    Introduction to Control Antibodies

Control antibodies are antibodies that are used to measure the expression of an antigen or to serve as a negative control in a given experiment. Control antibodies are used to verify that the desired antigen is present in the sample. Control antibodies can also be used to determine the background signal of an experiment, or to verify that the antibody is not binding to any other targets in the sample. ProteoGenix is a company that produces control antibodies for use in expression studies.

    GFP Expression and Control Antibodies

Control antibodies are often used to measure chromogenic proteins expression in a sample such as Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). GFP is a fluorescent protein that is widely used in molecular biology as a reporter molecule. GFP expression can be measured using antibodies that specifically recognize GFP and bind to it, allowing its expression to be detected.
