General information on Anti-CoV-S[679-833]-F7 antibody

The anti-CoV-S[679-833]-F7 antibody targets the CoVs[679-833] region of the spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2. This region is predicted to represent the border between the S1 and S2 subunits of the complex transmembrane protein and to contain a furin cleavage site. This site is deemed crucial for the pathology caused by the new coronavirus strain. Absent from the genomic sequences of other strains of the same family, the site represents the cleavage point between the two subunits resulting in the exposure of the S2 subunit which, in turn, catalyzes the membrane fusion between the viral particles and human epithelial cells.
This antibody is suitable to investigate the mechanisms of membrane fusion in SARS-CoV-2 and to determine if antibodies able to block this region prevent viral internalization and, subsequently, arrest the infection process and prevent the onset of the COVID-19 disease.
Anti-CoV-S[679-833]-F7 is a fully human IgG antibody developed using our exclusive COVID-19 human antibody library (LiAb-SFCOVID-19™) comprising the immune repertoire of dozens of COVID-19 survivors with a clonal diversity of 1.2 x 1010. The huge clonal diversity from immune repertories tied to the screening capacity of phage display ensures an optimal diversity of the most relevant binders with therapeutic and diagnostic potential.
The strong affinity of this phage display-derived antibody towards the CoVs[679-833] antigen was tested and validated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Additionally, no cross-reactions were detected against other regions of the spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2. The IgG conformation of this molecule was also swiftly expressed in our transient expression system XtenCHO™ – a highly productive mammalian cell line obtained by engineering CHO cells for optimal productivity.

Anti-CoV-S[679-833]-F7 antibody, on SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing condition. The gel was stained overnight with Coomassie Blue. The purity of the protein is greater than 95%.
