VEGFC is a member of the VEGF family of proteins and is a disulfide-linked homodimer composed of two identical subunits. Each subunit is composed of a signal peptide, a propeptide, and a mature domain.
VEGFC is a ligand for the VEGFR-3 receptor and plays a role in the development of the lymphatic system and angiogenesis. It also plays a role in the regulation of vascular permeability and smooth muscle cell proliferation.
