About polyclonal antibodies production

Polyclonal antibodies (pAbs) are made by injecting specific antigens into experimental animals such as rabbits and goats. Animals were repeatedly immunized to obtain higher titers of antigen-specific antibodies. These polyclonal antibodies can be harvested from antiserum and collected within a few weeks. The production of polyclonal antibodies is simpler and less expensive than the production of monoclonal antibodies. In addition, polyclonal antisera can be produced in a shorter period of time (4-8 weeks), while monoclonal antibodies take approximately 3-6 months to produce.
